Hi Vegas Watch Family, I have been away for a long time. Reducing my trips to Las Vegas to just once a year. Here's my take on the new Celine show at Caesars!

Review of Celine Dion at Caesars June 9, 2012

First off, let me say I was not a fan before I had the opportunity to see A New Day in 2004. I called this show Cirque Du Celine, as it was a fusion of Cirque and Celine. Somewhat crazy visuals and over the top use of the gigantic LED screen. Scenes like a giant piano floating across the stage, made no sense, but the music and Celine’s voice blew the roof off the Coliseum. I was riveted for 90 minutes and must admit, I was an instant fan. probably hyper-Uber fan as I went back again in 2006. At this point in the run of the show, I could see the show morphed a bit. Celine was more comfortable moving around on the stage and songs like “I Drove All Night”, and “River Deep Mountain High”, sent chills up my spine. She worked the stage and the crowd with confidence and an energy level I had never experienced before.

I was sad when she closed a New Day, as I wanted to go back one more time but was unable to. Fast forward to June 9, 2012. I spent the week in Vegas for my Birthday. I drove over to the Coliseum on the Friday before the show. I asked if there were tickets for Saturday and the girl said they had one ticket left in the center of the first mezzanine! I was thrilled, bought the ticket and went back to the Wynn to gamble a bit and get some rest for the show the next day.

I dressed in slacks and my Vintage 1955 Ruby Red Shark Skin Jacket and alligator shoes, Dressed to the 9’s as I knew others would be and Celine too! The show opens with the giant red curtain parting in the center and lifting to the left and to the right. Celine appeared in a lovely sequin white form fitting gown, just AMAZING!! She stands in front of a ENORMOUS white billowing curtain, while singing Journey’s “Open Arms” all of a sudden in a breath taking moment the white curtains are very quickly pulled to the left and the right, almost magically they are whisked away and pulled away to reveal the 31 piece orchestra, situated on 3 or 4 white platforms. I could tell I was in for a real treat. The orchestra was classy, not cheesy, and just incredible. The platforms appeared to "float" around the stage during various parts of the show.

The use of the giant LED screen has been decreased, replaced with some floating LED panels and a lovely crystal chandelier. Some surprises revealed, so SPOILER ALERT if you don’t want to know scroll down. Gone from the first leg of this new show was Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror and Ben. Replaced with a holographic duet with Stevie Wonder and another a duet with a picture perfect hologram of Celine herself. Highlights for me were Janis Ian’s “At 17” and Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, so AWESOME! The Coliseum ROCKED with this cover of the pop princesses hit, done right by Celine. The James Bond Medley was great, Shirley Bassey would be proud with the rendition of Goldfinger! Which did utilize the entire LED screen and a cameo from her little boy was adorable! “River Deep” blew me out of my seat, I thought I was going to pass out from the excitement! The finale of “My Heart Will Go On”, FLOORED ME!!!! No spoiler here, all I will say is the visuals were STUNNING, FABULOUS, and something I have never seen before, just beautiful.

If you have a chance, GO, GO, Go, see the voice of our generation perform in her prime, you will not be disappointed! This production is classy, wonderful and a complete departure from A New Day. The 31 piece orchestra backing Celine is truly a treat for the ears and soul.

This is the current setlist as of 9 June 2012.
"Untitled Interlude I" (Video Introduction) (contains elements of "I Drove All Night")
"Open Arms"
"Where Does My Heart Beat Now"
"Because You Loved Me"

Medley: "Goldfinger" / "Nobody Does It Better" / "Live and Let Die"

I am in total agreement.
I saw the show July 6th and it was amazing.
About 4 songs in, I turned to my friend and said: "I don't think she is human." It is hard to believe that one person has so much musical talent. Every note is perfection.

You must experience Celine singing "Ne me quitte pas" live. It is breathtaking.

Glad to see you both enjoyed it. We had tix for last March, but she cancelled due to a bad throat (and we lost about 5% on the refund!). She's playing next week when we're there, but our schedule won't allow. When we return in mid October, Elton John is on, but we've seen him - and it's a great show!

I guess Shania later in the year, or perhaps Celine next Spring if she's still performing.

May I begin by saying that I am not a Celine Fan. But I must say that the most recent production is indeed 100 times better. The show showcases her voice, the first was gimicky and distracting.
